What is the workshop?

This workshop has been developed by Dr. Ken Williams over the last 30 years. Ken has been a member of Wycliffe Bible Translators since 1957, first as a translator in Guatemala , then as a missionary counselor for 22 years. In retirement, Ken serves as Executive Vice President of International Training Partners. The workshop grew out of his experience as a missionary and a counselor to missionaries. Over 1000 workshops have been provided for missionaries and Christian leaders in over 50 countries around the world.

Through this biblically based, practical, interactive workshop, attendees learn to become more effective in their working/interpersonal relationships and develop new skills to minister to people who are struggling. The following topics are addressed: Effective listening, helping others solve problems, confronting and being confronted, managing conflicts and helping others manage conflict, understanding grief and helping others grow through grief, handling stress and helping others handle their stress, dealing with moral issues and helping prevent immorality in ministry, having a ministry of encouragement, building trust, and living in community.

Who will facilitate the workshop?

Ken Williams has invested heavily in training and mentoring experienced missionaries and leaders to facilitate these workshops over the past several years. There are now more than 300 facilitators serving with more than fifty US based mission organizations and a growing number of mission organizations from host countries. The facilitators who are tentatively scheduled for this workshop are:

What about housing and meals?

Housing is not included in the cost of the workshop. For those who attend the workshop from outside the greater Minneapolis/St. Paul area, you will have to arrange housing on your own. Once you register for the workshop, a list of accommodations near Minnesota Renewal Center with reasonable rates can be provided. Snacks are provided as a part of the cost of the workshop. Noon meals will be on your own; there are a number of options for lunch in the area.

Who/What is Minnesota Renewal Center ?

We are a transdenominational, evangelical organization located in north suburban St. Paul , MN . We are psychologists, marriage & family counselors and pastoral counselors who are dedicated to ministering to the personal, emotional and developmental needs of missionaries, ministers and Christian leaders through assessment, counseling, education/training, renewal and prayer. We also provide a ministry of consultation, mediation and reconciliation to churches and Christian organizations.
