About Kathryn: Kathryn Pearson is a Licensed Psychologist and has provided outpatient therapy for many years in mental health settings. Her current practice with Minnesota Renewal Center gives her great joy in helping people restore to their previous level of functioning, or to find entirely new heights of enhanced living. She received a Master’s degree in Counseling and Guidance from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and has been widely trained in multiple modalities of treatment, including cognitive behavioral therapy, narrative therapy, solution focused therapy. In addition she is proficient in teaching relaxation and anxiety management skills, as well as helping people understand their emotions and behaviors which cause them stress. She has developed an individualized style of therapy which utilizes careful listening and feedback to help each person address their initial, as well as deeply rooted issues.
She is the author of two books, TemperTamers: An Eight Session Anger Management Pull-Out Program, and Dynamite Emotions, which continue to be widely used in school settings to help elementary aged and adolescent students manage strong emotions and anger.
She grew up bi-culturally in Japan, having been raised by missionary parents. Her early upbringing has brought her to a deep understanding of issues faced by those in ministry, as well as cultural issues faced by people who have experienced life outside of the United States.

Types of Therapy: Kathryn works with Adults, Adolescents and Children 6 and older in an individual, couple or family format.
Insurances Accepted: Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Health Partners, Medica, MN Care, MA and Medical Assistance programs, Preferred One, Select Care, United Behavioral Care, U-Care. Other insurance companies may provide coverage on an out of network basis. HSA and FSA accounts are usually reimbursable so those are additional avenues to pursue with insurance carriers. Please check with your insurance carrier for the specifics of your coverage.
