About Kathy: Kathy is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor who received her graduate degree in Counseling Psychology from Bethel University. She has past experience serving as a volunteer counselor at a local church in Minnesota and at an international church in The Hague, Netherlands, where she lived for 4 years. Kathy is passionate about helping people find healing and move toward experiencing a full and free life. She believes that it takes a lot of courage to seek out help in getting past emotional distress. As such, one of her primary goals as a therapist is to hold a safe space for her clients, characterized by compassion and support. She is interested in helping people overcome depression, anxiety, trauma (be it recent or rooted in childhood), and sorting out spiritual questions and relationship issues. Additionally a portion of Kathy’s practice is dedicated to missionary care both on and off the field. Kathy has specialized training in EMDR (a specialized treatment to aid in trauma recovery), Sand Tray Therapy (an experiential alternative to talk therapy), and Emotion Focused Couples Therapy (a couples therapy model based on discovering and meeting attachment needs). Kathy integrates DBT (dialectical behavior therapy) when appropriate. She is also certified in the Prepare-Enrich Inventory and utilizes this tool for Pre-Marital counseling.

Types of Therapy: Kathy works with adults and adolescents. Kathy works with couples in a unique format which involves two therapists working together with the couple.
Insurances Accepted: Blue Cross Blue Shield, Health Partners, Preferred One, United Healthcare, Cigna, Medica, Aetna, UCare (MN Care plan only), Select Care, MN Care, MA and Medical Assistance programs, and some other smaller companies administered through the United Behavioral Health (UBH) network or Optum Network. Other insurance companies may provide coverage on an out-of-network basis. Additionally, most HSA and FSA accounts are reimbursable.
