About: Eric is endlessly curious about people and the stories that comprise their lives. He considers it both sacred and fascinating to have the privilege to listen to the stories of others. Pursuing therapy can feel intimidating and confusing. Sometimes we know something feels off even if it is difficult to communicate what it is. Eric enjoys joining others in the exploration of their hearts and minds by utilizing what he has learned from attachment theory, neuroscience, systems theories, and when desired, faith-based perspectives.

Eric earned his Master of Arts in Counseling and Psychological Services from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, MN. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities where he majored in Architecture and minored in Philosophy. Before becoming a therapist Eric worked in college ministry for 15 years on several college campuses. Eric has advanced training in narrative focused trauma therapy. He also is certified in PREPARE/ENRICH assessments for couples desiring premarital counseling.

Human beings love stories. Most of us participate in stories through reading or watching favorite movies or tv shows. But have you ever thought of your life as a story? Many of us haven’t, but every person has a story worth telling. When we begin telling our stories with a group of attentive listeners we are able to see ourselves more clearly. When those attentive listeners offer care we may not have originally been given it can be transformative. This group work combines clinical techniques, storytelling, and Christian formation.

When not in a counseling session, you will find Eric exercising, fishing, reading, or enjoying his family (married in 2007, father of two incredible daughters).
